day fifteen - conversations

Over the past fifteen days, I’ve had some incredible conversations with a lot of really different people, often either ones I wouldn’t usually have contact with, or ones where the conversation never went towards mental health. I’ve also had to become far better at being succinct and eloquent about my own health at this project (very much a work in progress).

Whilst I won’t go into any specifics to respect the privacy of those I was speaking with, some of these conversations have been heart-warming, wonderful, refreshing and reaffirming chats which really focussed on positive action in the field of mental health. Others however have been heart-wrenching, incredibly intimate and personal stories from people who have either been through, or are going through tremendous battles with their own health, or those closest to them.

What is fascinating is just how many people can and will talk about these matters when there is acceptance and permission to do so. When they know they can talk.

It has 100% reaffirmed my belief that conversations about mental health matter.

We do indeed need to talk…
