donations to kilt life crisis

thank you all for your generosity

“To all the amazingly generous people who have been able to donate, please accept my sincere thanks. Each and every fundraiser has been for projects and organisations that make significant differences in our communities. Without your support, there is no way we could have helped so many.” - James/

current tally of donations = $4089

donations for le tour de kilt = $895

The Tour de Kilt is over, but you can still donate! I turned myself inside out walking on a treadmill along with le Tour de France, all to give people a smile, raise awareness, start conversations and raise funds.

This year, I am raising funds for three different organisations, each doing wonderful work in our community.

If you’re able to donate, you can choose between, Headspace Albury Wodonga, R U OK? Australia, or The Leukaemia Foundation by clicking on the buttons or links below. (If you’re feeling extra generous, you’re more than welcome to donate to multiple organisations).

financial donations… where will they go?

and where they have gone!

This project is not just about raising money. It’s about starting conversations and reducing the stigma of talking about mental health.

The sad reality though is that many organisations just aren’t getting the funding they need to realise their potential to do even more amazing work in our community. Many rely on fundraising to continue their work. By entering these events, challenges etc, it gives me focus, a talking point to start conversations, and often given their physical nature, helps to improve my mental and physical health whilst providing an opportunity for you to all indulge in some schadenfreude and laugh at my pain!

To date, there have been several fundraisers that a number of friends and supporters and I have participated in. These have all been for different mental health organisations and charities with details above (as well as a fundraiser for the Leukemia Foundations through Dry July which is close to my heart).

For each of the Fundraisers I have, and will, participate in, I will also be making a personal donation. I find it hard to ask people to donate to things, but it’s even harder if I haven’t done so myself.

“…I’m not yet sure. I really need to work out where the money would be best used. This may seem vague, but I’m really looking forward to learning more about how the funds may be used. There may be several charities and organisations that will receive the donations, but I will be entirely transparent about the amount and where it goes. 100% of the money donated will be passed on.

Some of the events I’m planning on participating in have their own process of donations and fundraising, (i.e Dry July, Movember etc). Should you choose to donate to that aspect of the Kilt Life Crisis Project, I will be adhering to their processes and policies.

finances for kilt life crisis

This has, and will be a not for profit endeavour (though it is not registered as a charity or not-for-profit). I would not want, nor feel it moral, to try to profit from this in any way. Whilst it’s a pretty silly, roundabout way of doing things, this whole year is about trying to help others. The only personal benefit I hope to receive is positive changes in my own mental and physical health (and having a good excuse to wear my beloved kilts!).

The cost of kilts, t-shirts, this website etc. will be borne by myself (and I can be transparent about these costs should it be useful).

If it gets to the stage where other people are interested in purchasing t-shirts or any other merchandise for themselves (which I’m currently not anticipating), any profits made (after the cost of production and shipping) will be put with the other donations.

Should you have a kilt, sporran, kilt pin etc, to donate, these will be gratefully used by me and not donated to charity.
