day one hundred and fifty-six - made my day
Today, as I was out, stocking up on supplies in a part of town that has gotten me a higher than average amount of dubious looks, a lady stopped me and said how lovely it was to see a young man in a kilt. It reminded her of her Scottish father, and she said how many wonderful memories it brought back. We spoke for a while (at a good trolleys distance), before continuing on our quest for groceries for our respective clan at home.
For both of us, it was a lovely experience. When she said how it had made her day, I don’t think she could have possibly known just how good that interaction had made me feel.
She could have so easily said nothing and I’d have been none the wiser, but she didn’t, and I was so very grateful. I’d been pretty lousy throughout the day (and not feeling terribly young), but after that, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.
