day ninety-two - jokes on us
It seems the world has taken April Fools to a new level this year - and got a disturbingly large head start.
We all know we’re a land of droughts and flooding rains. Bushfires aren’t new, but these ones were on a different level entirely. Indecision and negligence have brought us to the brink of environmental devastation. Greed is rife. Toilet paper is currency. Job security is an oxymoron. The world is gripped with a pandemic. Democracy is sliding towards autocracy and states deepen. Faith Trumps science as the most powerful man in the world wants churches filled at Easter whilst their crisis only worsens. Our government, long preaching the benefits of ‘turning back the boats’ finally let one through, and it was filled with disease. You’re an essential worker, unless you aren’t. Jigsaws are essential. And much of the workforce is now at home, which is also now school - all of which is teetering on a watered down NBN. Borders are shutting. 500 is 100… actually it’s 2. Liberties are (rightfully) being taken because of clowns sun-baking at Bondi. Self isolation is something not just for introverts anymore.
If only at noon today, the last 3 months could be erased.
No-one likes these kinds of jokes. No-one finds them very funny.
Screw you 2020. Screw you.
