day eighty-two - lockdown
Today, we have heard the announcement of lockdown laws to come in place as the Nation braces itself for the pandemic that is already on our shores.
This is three days after the Ruby Princess, a cruise ship with known cases of COVID-19 was allowed to disembark some 2,700 passengers and crew for voluntary isolation in Sydney. Ironic, that a government that was so hellbent on ‘Stopping the boats’ has failed to stop one that really matters.
States have their own rulings on what’s allowed, but the gist is clear - stay at home; unless you are a student, or teacher, or work in essential services - which seems to be code for ‘have a job’, or are exercising, or battling the hordes to get toilet paper, or have a blue letterbox where the sun hits it from 9:47 in the morning whilst there is a north easterly breeze of no more than 20 knots, but no less that 5.
So no gatherings, only essential jigsaws and freedoms limited far more than we could have ever imagined earlier this year. I jest, but the other option is ghastly to consider… to be in the position we are in now, with this decision being made would make the inhabitants of Italy, Spain and the US very envious.
Stay Home. Wash Your Hands. Be Kind.
